Has Feinstein jumped the shark?

Dianne Feinstein has made some interesting decisions about what she will and won't support the past few months. From my viewpoint it seems she has reversed a lot of her stances taken prior to the election. Her support of Casey truly bothered me since I viewed him as shifty with his refusal to answer a direct, and simple, question.

Now she believes that visitors to the smithsonian should be charged admission. The Smithsonian is a depository for our public history. It is where the tangible view of our past is housed and protected. But the Smithsonian is being allowed to fall apart. They need funding from congress to repair and restore the buildings. If congress doesn't fund this repair, we stand to lose valuable items that we won't ever be able to replace.

Instead of championing this cause, Feinstein has suggested that we need to charge visitors. Make the Smithsonian into a profitable institution instead of a public trust.

I'm disenchanted with the woman.

The smithsonian is the greatest collection of museums in the world. As an educational institution,it should be open to all at no charge to encourage the development of our youth and to keep the rich history of our country alive for future generations.

I have not visited there in a long time,I was under the impression that they had begun charging already. In a bizarre way,I find this encouraging because we can still lobby our lawmakers on this to keep it from happening.

Maybe Bush should give us bigger tax breaks! Bridges have to fall down before anyone cares about them. So why would the smithsonian be any different?
